How To: Enable Windows 8 VPN Split Tunneling

In Windows 7 and Windows 8, all Network traffic is routed through an existing VPN tunnel by default.
If you want to separate / split your internet / external traffic to not use the VPN connection, you can disable to use the default gateway on the remote network on that VPN Connection.
Here’s how:

Click on the Network icon in your Taskbar and right click the VPN Connection. Then click “View Connection Properties

Click the “Network” Tab and highlight “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)“, then click “Properties”

Click “Advanced

UncheckUse default gateway on remote Network” and click “OK“, then connect / re-connect the VPN connection
